Join us for an evening of kirtan and community at 220 Studio! Kirtan is part of the Bhakti tradition, the yoga of loving devotion, and is essentially a joyous sing-along. Through call and response singing, we can experience a deep connection with one another and ourselves. Most of the chants are in Sanskrit, the language of light, which offers us the opportunity to become immersed in the sounds, not the meanings of the words. The chants are essentially stories that help us reconnect back to our hearts and one another.
Michelle Johnson and Tess Perrin will lead you in this musical meditation, offering traditional chants with the accompaniment of their harmoniums. All are welcome for this celebration, so please bring a friend! Warmth will be provided in many forms including tea, sitting supports, and hungry hearts. This offering is by donation - all profits will go to Living Yoga.
Future kirtan gatherings will be held on the following Fridays at the same time with other guest artists: February 9, March 16, April 13, May 11, June 15, and July 13.
