Reclamation

We have stories to share, stories of depth, liberation, healing, grief, and love, potent and profound stories.

Reclamation is a body of work birthed from my experience reclaiming my own story and ability to transform people's hearts through the telling of it. Reclamation is a work focused on reclaiming yourself as a writer and storyteller. Reclamation is a process by which you will engage your intuition to gain clarity about the story you want to tell and the pathway forward for how to share it with the world. Through 1:1 and group offerings, workshops, writing series, and retreats, Reclamation will bring you back to yourself and give you the courage to create, write, and share your story with the world.

“Many people I encounter struggle with embracing themselves as a writer. This struggle is only amplified if one holds identities that are less proximal to social and institutional power and if one has internalized toxic cultural norms about their worthiness, voice, and writing ability. Reclaiming our birthright, which is to know our story profoundly and, if we choose, to share it with the world, is not only about grammar, an arc that makes sense, and having the perfect audience or hook. Writing is about intuition, trusting our voice, being willing to be vulnerable, and sharing our vulnerability with others.”

Upcoming Reclamation Offerings

Reclamation: An Online Mindfulness and Writing Retreat

In spring 2024, Michelle will offer a weekend online writing and mindfulness retreat. It will include contemplative practices, community building, time to write, exercises intended to inspire creativity, and more! Please join the interest list to be notified of when registration opens for this retreat.

Reclamation is a writing series intended to support you in deepening your connection with the story that wants to come forth from you, connecting with your intuition to guide your writing project, and developing a devotional relationship with writing. This series is an opportunity to be in community with others who are working on projects as well. This opportunity will allow us all to bolster our dreams and hopes for our writing projects. During this series, we will engage in contemplative and somatic practices, deepen a connection with intuition, develop a devotional relationship with writing, write with one another, and have small group discussions and large group discussions.

This cohort is full. Please join me for one of the upcoming Reclamation retreats below or join the interest list to be notified when registration opens in 2025.

Reclamation: A Writing Series

Reclamation: A Writing, Intuition, and Mindfulness Retreat

Menla Retreat Center - Catskills, NY

Reclamation is a body of work focused on how intuition can guide one in trusting their voice and story and a framework to support them in bringing their writing project to fruition. This retreat is an opportunity for you to immerse yourself in nature, move through mindfulness and contemplative practices to support you in deepening your connection with your intuition and remove blocks that may have been in the way of your sharing and trusting your story in the past, and developing a devotional relationship with writing. During this retreat, you will have time to contemplate what writing project you want to begin or if you have already begun writing to continue your process and move your project forward.

The retreat will include yoga, pranayama, shamanic practices, reflection, journaling, time for writing, meditation, somatic practices, community building, and small and large group discussions.

What People Are Saying

“It was such a gift to be able to sit with Michelle and receive her invitations to make my writing come alive. Her teaching style is a sweet blend of relational, spiritual, nourishing and practical. I left the reclamation offering with somatic practices that have helped me continue to nurture the artistry of my writing.”

— Horizon Greene

“I was able to envision myself taking back the emotional connection I once had when writing my stories.  Michelle's heartfelt Reclamation Part 2 workshop provided the tools for me to actively write again.  The tools of "reverence" and "devotion" to the practice of writing have made such a difference to my spiritual craft.  I'm grateful for finding this community.”

— Kathy Hampton

“Michelle’s Reclamation Writing Workshops align with my personal values of intuition, growth, learning, well-being, wholeness, and love.  Her approach to “teaching” writing is evolved, intuitive, and thought provoking.  Her approach provided me with tools to reclaim my desire to write, to go deeper, to pull back the layers of my fear.  The prompts that Michelle provided helped me to uncover a particular moment in my past that led me to doubt my ability to be a writer.  I now believe and know that I am a writer, that I have a unique story to tell, a story that can only come through me.  I am allowing my intuition to guide me through this process.  I am so grateful for Michelle and her framework for writing.”
